What Midjourney actually is
Midjourney is the product of an independent PAM AI STUDIO founded by David Holz. You write a line of natural language, the model reads it, and seconds later four candidate frames appear. What started as a Discord-only bot has, across 2025 and 2026, migrated onto a proper web interface with a gallery, folders and production-oriented controls.
From V6 onward the model is no longer competing on novelty — it is competing on craft. Photoreal skin, legible text inside the image, consistent stylistic identity across a series. On all three fronts it remains ahead of most of the pack.
How to use it, end to end
Step 1: Create an account at midjourney.com.
Step 2: Pick a subscription tier that matches your throughput.
Step 3: Write your prompt in the input field (English remains the most reliable dialect).
Step 4: Choose one of the four variations the model returns.
Step 5: Upscale to a print-ready resolution and export.
Writing prompts that actually work
Be specific. "A cat" is noise. "A ginger tabby on a marble kitchen counter, soft window light, shallow depth of field, 85mm f/1.4 aesthetic" is a brief. The model rewards camera vocabulary.
Declare the style. --style raw pulls the model toward documentary photoreal. --niji swings it into anime. --v 6 pins it to the current flagship.
Use the parameters. --ar 16:9 for horizontal, --ar 9:16 for vertical stories, --q 2 for higher sampling, --s 250 for stronger stylisation.
Say what you don't want. --no text, blur, watermark is the cleanest way to keep unwanted elements out of the frame.
Pricing in 2026
- Basic Plan: around $10 per month, limited generations — useful for testing.
- Standard Plan: around $30 per month, the sweet spot for most freelancers and small teams.
- Pro Plan: around $60 per month, fast lanes and stealth mode for client work.
- Mega Plan: around $120 per month, heavy production volume.
Where the industry uses it
Advertising and marketing: campaign concepting, moodboards, social frames that don't need a full shoot.
Fashion and textile: collection concepts, print pattern studies, lookbook direction.
Architecture and real estate: concept renders, spatial studies, pitch visuals before the CGI bill starts.
E-commerce: product concept plates, lifestyle frames, campaign key visuals.
Film and production: storyboards, concept art, early character design passes.
Midjourney against the field
DALL-E 3 wins on convenience because it lives inside ChatGPT. Adobe Firefly wins on integration with existing post pipelines. Stable Diffusion wins on the open-source ceiling. Midjourney wins on the thing clients actually pay for — the image that looks like it came out of a camera held by someone who knows what they're doing.
Its aesthetic signature is cinematic by default. That's why fashion, architecture and advertising teams keep coming back to it, even after running the same prompt through three other models.
At PAM Istanbul we use Midjourney as one instrument inside a larger orchestra — not a replacement for production, but a compression of the concept phase. If you're building a visual strategy around it, we're happy to sit down and map it out properly.
